21 / When Time Stands Still
Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” —Matthew 4:5-6

Warm-Up:
Pray:
“God, when things seem to be getting worse rather than better, and time feels like it is standing still, give me faith to trust that You are working in me. Just as time stood still for Joshua so Your people could see a victory, show me why I NEED this time to gain a victory in my life. Help me pray bold prayers, like Joshua, and see something in my life upended and overturned. Give me eyes to see the blessing of time slowing down and show me how to leverage it to my advantage. This time is far from wasted, it’s full of purpose. Help me see it! Thank you for this gift!”
Round 1:
Read Joshua 10:1-15 and underline these verses:
On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.
Round 2:
In your journal, make a list of 5 areas in your life where you need to see a victory.
Round 3:
Review your list and write out what a “victory” would look like next to each area you wrote down. Ask God to grant you these victories—for his glory.
Burn Out:
Get outside today. At a minimum, go for a 10-minute walk. As you walk, imagine what it would be like for the sun to stand still for a 24 hours. Since time feels like it has slowed down, ask God to confirm in your heart that you need this time and what victory you need to pursue.
