Warm-Up:

Read Genesis 22:11-13 and underline/highlight what stands out to you:

But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son.

Round 1:

Write out Romans 8:32:

He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

Round 2:

Check in with your heart. Make a list of the practical and spiritual things God has provided for you lately—your ram in the thicket.

Round 3:

Pray:

“Lord, I trust that You are good! I trust You beyond reason or reward. Abraham trusted You without any promise that You would come through for him. Stretch my faith in You to trust that You will provide for anything You ask of me. Abraham believed You, and was willing to obey You, even to the point of offering up his only son. Through Your word, I now see that You honor my obedience and worship by providing exactly what I need: Jesus. He alone pays my debt and sets me free!”

Burn Out:

Go for a 20 minute walk today. You’ll probably walk about 1 mile in this amount of time. Periodically, pick something out in the distance that you will walk toward. As you approach that landmark, think about what you had to give up to get there—i.e. you couldn’t stay where you were and get there. You have to give up on where you are to get where you are going.

All this week:

If you or someone you know needs assistance, needs to talk, or needs to pray with someone please text the Second Place Church team at 708-866-0092. We are in this together!
