Day 11: Search
Today, we turn a corner where we will pursue God by allowing him to search our heart. Write down the time and place where you are completing this Soul Workout.
Warm-Up:
Recommit yourself to the pursuit by praying this prayer from Day 1:
“God, this pursuit is dedicated to pursuing You. Work in my heart to discover things I’ve never known (about myself and my world); to receive new revelations (about Your truth), to grow in my intimacy with You, and to encounter the power of God like never before. No one comes to You unless You draw them, so thank You for drawing me. Keep working in me!”
Round 1:
Read Psalm 139 - underline verses 17 and 18.
Round 2:
Pray these words from Psalm 139:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, I give you access to my heart.”
Round 3:
Set a timer for 7 minutes. Yes, SEVEN minutes. Sit quietly and focus giving God access to your heart. Give Him your full attention. Have your journal ready and write down what you sense God bringing to your attention that needs to change. This could be sin, fear, doubt, selfishness, or something completely different.
Burn Out:
What did you write down? Are the things you wrote down a surprise? Are they familiar? In your own words, bring these things to God and surrender them to Him. Ask Him to purify your heart and make it clean. Invite the Holy Spirit to work in your heart. Commit your day to God.
Sometime this week:
If you are able, fast this week. Choose a day and fast a meal, two meals or the whole day. During the time you would normally eat, take some extra time to focus on God through prayer or reading. If you are not sure if fasting is okay for you, consult your doctor.
